Windows 98 Setup
If you are using Windows 98, DO NOT install our software from the CD-ROM or diskettes. Instead, follow the instructions below.
On your Desktop, double-click on the Connect to the Internet icon. This will bring up the Microsoft Internet Connection Wizard.
The first page of the Wizard will give you three options. You will want to choose Option 2 (I have an existing Internet account through my phone line or a local area network (LAN). Help me set up my computer to connect to this Internet account.) and click Next.
Now, you will be asked if you connect to the Internet using an ISP (Interlync) or through an online service such as America Online. You will want to choose Option 1 and press Next.
Select your modem and press Next.
The next section asks how you connect to the Internet. You will want to choose Connect using my phone line and then press Next.
You are now asked if you would like to set-up a new dial-up connection or use an existing dial-up connection. Select Create a new dial-up connection and press Next.
Now, you must select the phone number to which you are going to dial. For the area code, if not entered already, put the area code of your local access number. For the Telephone number field, put in your local access number. Now, uncheck the box next to Dial using the area code and country code and press Next.
The next screen asks for your username and password. Enter your username and password and then press Next.
You are now asked if you want to edit the advanced settings of your new connection. Say No and press Next.
Type Interlync in the box and press Next.
It is now time to set up your Internet mail account. Answer yes to the question asking if you want to set up an Internet mail account now and press Next.
The next screen will give you the opportunity to use an existing Internet mail account or create a new one. You are going to want to choose Create a new Internet mail account and press next.
Where it asks for your Display Name, type in your name and press Next.
You are now prompted to enter your E-mail address. Your E-mail address consists of your username followed by the AT sign (@) and then Interlync.com. For example, if your username were johndoe, you would put in johndoe@Interlync.com and press Next.
Now you are required to put in the server type and name for your incoming and outgoing mail servers. Your incoming mail server is a POP3 server. The incoming mail server is mail.Interlync.com and the outgoing mail server is mail.Interlync.com, then click Next.
The wizard will now ask how you login. You will then provide your POP account name and password, which are the same as your login name and password, and then press Next to continue.
The next screen asks you to provide a friendly name for this account. Type in Interlync and press continue.
You are now asked to set up your Internet news account. Press Yes and then Next.
In the window where it asks if you want to create a new Internet news account or use an existing news account, choose Create a new Internet news account and press Next.
Now type in your name in the box and press Next to continue.
The wizard will once again ask for your E-mail address. Put your login name plus @Interlync.com in this box and press Next.
Now, you are required to put in your News (NNTP) server. Type in news.Interlync.com and (Do not click on My news server requires me to log on) press Next.
Now, give your news account a name such as news.Interlync.com and press Next.
The wizard now asks if you want to set up an Internet directory service. Say no and press Next.
You are now ready to connect to the Internet. Press finish to complete the wizard.
Now that the wizard is completed, all you have to do to connect to the Internet is double-click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop.
