"Many homes and businesses no longer require local telephone service for general voice communication, due to the abundance of cellular phones and advances in voice services like Voice over IP (VOIP)."

Dedicated  or  Shared

   Dedicated Line DSL

A dedicated DSL line (Also called Dry Loop or "Naked DSL", Dedicated ADSL or SDSL) is a dedicated pair of copper wires that runs from the "Telco" Central Office or aggregation point to your location. A dedicated DSL line is essentially a telephone line, but is utilized exclusively for DSL data transmissions and does not have a dial tone phone service (Dry Loop) from the Phone company.

Professional Installation Generally Required
Professional Installation requires a technician visit your premises to complete the install process. Dedicated Line DSL Installations normally take from 1 to 2 weeks.

      Advantages of Dedicated Line DSL
  • NO need for local telephone service through the Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier (ILEC). This is your "main" local phone company.
  • Faster speeds, more reliable service since there is no line sharing.
  • Get low cost VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol - Interlync Phone) and rid yourself of the phone company!
  • Change phone services without DSL interruptions.
  • No more Telephone Company DSL Service Slamming (Stealing your shared line ADSL Service from your DSL provider).
  • Did we tell you... You can get rid of the phone company?

   Shared Line ADSL

A Shared DSL line (usually ADSL) does just that... shares the same line your phone service is installed on. Shared Line DSL requires you have local phone service with the incumbent phone company (ie. AT&T). The user typically installs a DSL filter on each phone jack that has a telephone. This filters out the high frequencies from the phone, so that the phone only sends or receives the lower frequencies (the human voice). The DSL modem and the normal telephone equipment can be used simultaneously on the line without interference from each other.

Self Installation
Installation requires the user to simply install phone line filters on every phone that "shares" the line with your DSL service. The DSL Modem/Router does NOT require a filter. A technician visit to your premises is NOT required to complete the install process.

      Advantages of Shared Line DSL
  • No need for a professional install.
  • Generally less expensive.
  • Installs are completed in just a few days.
  • Must keep your phone service with phone company - Not sure if this is an advantage or not.

NOTE: Interlync technicians will not install any network cards (Ethernet) during the installation process, you must have 10Base-T (Ethernet) network cards installed and working prior to self installation or Interlync technician arrival.
